This was a very fun illustration to do, and I initially wanted to do something dark for Halloween. It started with a traditional sketch, then scanned that into Photoshop, inked over the sketch, and finally painted. I wanted to get the pose right, and I knew it would be challenging considering the tilt of the head, facial expression, and stretch of the arm and hand. So, I refined my initial sketch using some quick reference. Nothing fancy was done in Photoshop, simply used the standard round brush and chalk brush. No photo textures were used. I had to look up what the Ouroboros symbol looked like. Thank you so much for viewing and critiques are welcome! I'll try and post some process images soon, and possibly a video.
